Red October, WAiSTEDD
I have to say, for the longest time I wanted a pair of Red Octobers. I was willing to spend whatever for them. Alas, my bank account has not gotten any bigger nor have my other responsibilities gotten any smaller so I still do not have the Red Octobers. Luckily for me, however, I found these amazing Supras for the time being (I’m totally obsessed with a red shoe- such a pop. Even cooler that this is a sneaker!)
This look is one of my favorite casual looks to wear- ripped denim, sneakers, a flannel and gold jewelry. I’m not sure why- but I am always drawn to this type of an edgier look which is very much inspired by the street style of last year. I am such a sneaker Fein (which many of you probably don’t know because I wear heels so often in our posts) and its great to play around with different casual looks and feel edgy. Lauren and I are so experimental in our fashion sense and love to play around with different looks- this was definitely one of those times. This isn’t a look I would wear all the time, but it’s fun to try on different looks that represent different facets of your personality (currently blasting Drake… hmmm…). We always. always. try and have fun with fashion- never take it too seriously! I mean really though, who wants to look the same all the time…..
Enjoy your week everyone!!

So it’s almost the end of September, and even though the weather has been fantastic, we are starting to notice the days getting shorter and the nights getting a little cooler. I have been debating recently whether a dress will keep me warm or if I need jeans for dinner outings, making it even more difficult to get dressed! This weekend when I went to Oktoberfest by the Bay, I was happy to have on jeans and booties by the end of the day, but wished I had worn a dress when I first got there.
So the question remains how do you transition into fall seamlessly?
One of the ways I have discovered is by starting to introduce what we think of as “fall” essentials, but keeping it fun with summer pieces. Example below- lightweight printed woven top, light wash jeans, and booties. I rolled the denim, much like what I did this summer when wearing sandals and threw on a fun hat (which we are totally loving for fall!). I really love the play on materials with this outfit. The hat is wool, booties are suede, and the top is silk. If you are not ready to commit to fall (and you totally DO NOT have to be) try mixing in your summer pieces with your basic fall favorites!

We’re doing a little different WAiSTEDD Wednesday today in so that we’re sharing some of our favorite affordable wines easily found at your local grocery store. I guess you could call this a literal “Wasted Wednesday”- although it’s ill advised considering (sighs) it’s still Wednesday. Our best advice would be to try out these wines on Friday night with your girls. A fun idea would be to get together at someone’s house and each bring a bottle of wine and their favorite food to pair it with. You could even decorate your own wine glasses- um, so cute.
I really, really use to hate wine. Like really. I thought it tasted horribly. But both my parents are complete winos- so I hoped one day, I may actually “understand the underlying flavors” they frequently raved about. Well Mom (hope you’re reading)- the day has come- I have found wine which I can appreciate, I’m on your level!!! Today, we will only cover Red & White wines- on a later day we can cover the sweeter categories, which are always fun. Check out our favorite Zins & Pinots below- all of which can be found at your local grocery store for under 15$. If you are at a Safeway, Pavillions or Vons- you’re able to buy 6 bottles at a discounted price. Happy Wining!!!!
Biased Towards: Zinfandels
I like Zins over say a Cab or Merlot because they are much sweeter- to get all wino on y’all- Zins are much more fruity to start off and end with somewhat of a smokey flavor. It’s a really great red wine to start off drinking, if like us, you aren’t totally into wines. Two of my absolute favorites (that are under 13$) are Nanna’s short Cake & OzV. A splurge wine would be the Coppola Directors Cut- it’s excellent- save it for a special occasion such as finishing a school semester or landing that job you’ve always wanted. Must try with a dark chocolate. Yummm
Biased Towards: Pinot Grigio
Pinot Grigio is the essential Summer wine ( I mean unless you’re us and drink it year round because it’s just that good). It truly is a light and refreshing drink that goes so well with a summer salad. We love how easy and fresh it is. Pinot Grigio is another great wine to start with if you’re not that into wine because it’s not overpowering nor is it dry. This is a definite wine to try with your girls- spoil yourselves with the Santa Margherita- it’s around 18$ but SO WORTH it.
Let us know what you think & if you have any other suggestions!! Enjoy the rest of your week and hopefully you can try out some of our picks over the weekend!
Say whatever you want about Kim Kardashian (We probably say them too!), but the woman has a killer fashion game and we both love how she dresses perfectly for her curves! One of our favorite looks that Kim does over and over (and still manages to look fresh and flawless) is a tight skirt & bodysuit. Here, I tried recreating that look with this killer asymmetrical plaid skirt I bought from Elorie via Gilt.com. I love the black and white plaid & the ruffle asymmetrical detail. It takes the plaid from plain to edgy.
Another thing I really liked about this skirt was that it’s a piece I can wear to work and still look cute if I want to catch a drink after with the girls. I decided to wear my hair back and with simple jewelry so that the skirt was the main focus of my outfit. I paired the look with my snakeskin heels from Kelsi Dagger- I really love the contrast of texture & patterns.
Have any fun weekend plans?!? Enjoy. XO Danielle & Lauren

Okay, we cannot be the only women completely and utterly obsessed with Diane Von Furstenburg’s Spring 2015 runway collection. I mean seriously, does DVF ever make a wrong piece? I think what we love so much about her clothes is that she knows how to make a woman feel fabulous. When we started our blog (wow, almost a year ago?!?) we really wanted women to understand the power of an outfit and feel confident in expressing herself through what she wears in the morning. DVF is one of the few designers who we feel like completely embodies empowering women through clothes. She is a woman of grace, of drive, of passion and that exudes through her classic designs and impeccable tailoring. In essence, she is such an inspiration to us not only because of her talent to make auhmazzziing clothes but in her commitment to making women feel beautiful. Although the focus of this post really is on her Spring 2015 collection, Dian is seriously a freaking boss- the ultimate idol for us in the fashion industry.
5 quotes that made us fall in love with DVF:
1. “Women inspire me & I design to inspire women”
2. “I didn’t always know what I wanted to do, but I knew the kind of woman I wanted to be”
3. “The most important relationship in your life is the relationship you have with yourself. Because no matter what happens, you will always be with yourself.”
4. “Life is very short. Insecurity is a waste of time.”
5. “Generosity is the best investment”
Okay okay- back to this collection. We love the simple femininity displayed throughout the collection- the prints, the shapes, the colors just scream spring to us and we love it. Not to mention so many of the styles are flattering to all shapes and sizes- which we absolutely love. This collection is not just a beautiful work of art that we look at and never buy- this is totally wearable and practical. The dresses are great for work or a date- we always love versatility.
Although her pieces are quite expensive, these are pieces that will be in your closet for a lifetime. Truly classics. Be sure to check out all our favorite looks below and let us know which one you love best!
Have a great week!!
As you might have seen from our WAiSTEDD Wednesday- Physical Education: Track Pants- we have been crushing on comfortable soft pants for quite some time. Last weekend, I decided to wear mine for a casual lunch and they were totally appropriate for the occasion. I wanted to look a little dressed up, but not super fancy since it was lunch. I definitely realized how easy and comfortable they are!
You can pair these pants with almost any type of top you want and sandals, pumps, or booties. Danielle and I have been eyeing some of the hunter green pants (Splendid has some great ones!) for fall. We have been into sporty chic recently, and these fit perfectly with some of the pieces we have recent purchased (mesh, varsity jackets, wedge sneakers). I wanted to pair the pants with a sporty top, so I thought a sleeveless tank would be appropriate. I have worn these pants both out on the weekend and in the office so they are a great alternative to denim!
Hope you all have a great week! XO Danielle & Lauren
